The Hamden/North Haven Y's Camp Mountain Laurel is seeking dedicated and safety-conscious Lifeguards to join our team! As a Lifeguard, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety of all participants, maintaining a welcoming and positive aquatic environment, and upholding YMCA standards. Key Responsibilities:

1. Ensure safe swimming conditions by maintaining constant visual attention and remaining alert while on duty.
2. Enforce all YMCA policies, rules, and safety regulations to prevent accidents and promote a safe environment.
3. Respond immediately and effectively to emergency situations, performing first aid and CPR as needed.
4. Conduct routine pool and equipment checks, ensuring proper cleanliness and safety standards.
5. Engage with members and promote YMCA aquatic programs and services.
6. Attend all mandatory meetings and training sessions to maintain skill proficiency.
7. Serve as an ambassador for the YMCA, fostering a supportive and inclusive community.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Minimum age of 16 years old.
2. Lifeguard Certification (YMCA, Red Cross, or equivalent) required.
3. Must hold and maintain CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications.
4. Ability to pass a swimming and physical skills test upon hire and annually.
5. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
6. Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
7. Physically capable of prolonged periods in the water and lifting up to 25 pounds.
