Job summary

The Y in Central Maryland seeks a Lifeguard to ensure safety, cleanliness, and smooth operation of the pool during operating hours. The Lifeguard safeguards members, class participants and guests, and enforces pool rules and guidelines.

The role requires current lifeguard certification, CPR/AED/First Aid (or O2 within 30 days), successful swim test, and a flexible schedule including nights and weekends. Training is provided as part of the associate program.

Qualifications

• Current lifeguard certification.
• CPR/AED/First Aid certification (or O2 within 30 days of hire).
• Successful completion and passing of the Y in Central Maryland swim test.
• Flexible Schedule, days, nights and weekends.
• Completion of new associate training (including Child Abuse Prevention) before scheduled to work.

Responsibilities

• Supervise pool during shift and enforce pool rules.
• Read pool conditions and adjust chemicals.
• Maintain pool area cleanliness and report repairs as needed.
• Assist participants and staff, promote friendly, safe environment.
• Engage, orient and assist all participants when not actively guarding.
