Job summary

The Y in Central Maryland is hiring Lifeguards to ensure the safety and smooth operation of the swimming pool during operating hours. You will monitor swimmers, enforce rules, and respond to emergencies while maintaining a clean and safe pool environment.

As part of a mission-driven organization, you will support YMCA programs, engage with members, and participate in ongoing training to uphold health codes and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must be lifeguard certified and CPR/AED/First Aid certified.
• Flexible availability including days, evenings, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Monitor swimmers and enforce pool rules for a safe environment.
• Respond to center emergencies promptly and effectively.
• Conduct pool chemical checks and adjust as needed for safety.
• Maintain pool deck cleanliness and report issues.
• Set up and store aquatic equipment before/after lessons or events.
• Engage positively with members when not guarding.
• Attend in-service trainings and staff meetings.
• Promote an inclusive, respectful environment for all ages.
• Support YMCA programs and communicate the mission to members.

Education

Lifeguard certification

CPR/AED/Oxygen/First Aid certification
