Job summary

Haslett Public Schools is seeking Lifeguards for early morning and evening shifts. Positions require Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certification or the ability to obtain it before starting. Staff will supervise swimmers, enforce rules, and respond to emergencies with trained rescue and first aid.

Applicants should be 16 or older with strong swimming skills, excellent communication, and reliability. Varied hours per week support a flexible schedule in a community pool setting.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Current Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certification or ability to acquire before starting.
• Strong swimming ability including 300-yard swim and 2-minute treading.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm in emergencies.
• Reliable and punctual; flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Actively supervise swimmers to prevent accidents.
• Enforce pool rules consistently.
• Respond to emergencies with rescue and first aid as needed.
• Complete incident reports accurately.
• Assist patrons with sign-in and payments.
• Maintain pool area cleanliness and equipment.
• Conduct safety checks of facility and equipment.
• Educate patrons on safe swimming practices.
• Attend mandatory trainings and staff meetings.
• Mentor new guards during initial shifts.
