Job summary

YMCA of the Jersey Shore is seeking a Red Cross instructor to lead and manage certification courses. You will communicate with students, track attendance, set up and break down classrooms, and ensure safety during sessions.

Responsibilities include evaluating issues with students and equipment, providing approved training, and adapting teaching to diverse learner needs to achieveCertification objectives. Prior experience and an American Red Cross Instructor Certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• Current American Red Cross Instructor Certification.
• YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
• Previous professional experience in instructor Red Cross classes and use of Instructors Corner.
• Skills in problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor and students.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee all aspects of the certification courses, including communication with students, tracking attendance, and classroom setup/breakdown.
• Evaluate issues pertaining to students, equipment and classroom space; report concerns to supervisors.
• Provide approved training and support to students to assist them in achieving certification.
• Adapt teaching to the age, experience, and ability of participants to meet course objectives.
• Oversee overall safety of the class and respond to emergencies per the facility plan.
• Enforce building and aquatic policies, rules and procedures.
• Complete all records/reports needed for the course and provide to supervisor upon completion.

Job description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The American Red Cross instructor at The YMCA of the Jersey Shore intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined.Manages and oversees all aspects of the certification courses, including communication with students, tracking attendance, classroom set up/breakdown, equipment set up/breakdown.Evaluates issues pertaining to students, equipment and classroom space. Reports concerns to supervisors.Provides approved training and support to the students to assist them in achieving their certification.Adapts teaching skills to the age, experience, and ability of the participants so they can meet course objectives.Familiarizes, researches, and identifies new materials to stay current with requirements of courses and instructor responsibilities.Oversees overall safety of the class, recognizes and responds to emergencies in accordance with the facilities emergency action plan.Enforces all building and aquatic policies, rules and procedures.Completes all records and reports required for course in a timely manner.
