Job summary

The Salvation Army Aquatics team in Augusta, GA is seeking a Casual Lifeguard to ensure patron safety and assist with aquatic programs. You will work under the supervision of an Aquatics Coordinator and support healthy pool operations.

Requirements include a valid Red Cross Lifeguarding certificate, First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer (or obtain within 30 days), and a High School diploma or GED. This is a casual, on-site position offering hourly pay.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Two (2) years of Lifeguarding experience.
• Valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certificate.
• American Red Cross First Aid Certificate.
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer or will obtain within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains a close working relationship with the Aquatics Manager and staff to ensure a safe, friendly experience.
• Safeguards and regulates conduct, enforces pool policies, rescues patrons and follows up with appropriate procedures.
• Tests water quality and maintains records.
• Provides written reports on accidents and maintains safety requirements.
• Attends in-service training and instructs staff in skills.
• Conducts patron swimming tests to assess ability.

This position is responsible for:

Performing the safety of pool patrons and assists with aquatic programs and pool operations. Work is performed under the general supervision of an Aquatics Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains a close working relationship with the Aquatics Manager, Aquatics Coordinator, internal and external clients in order to create and maintain a friendly, safe and positive experience.
• Safeguards and regulates conduct of pool patrons, enforces pool policies, rules and regulations, rescues patrons and performs appropriate follow-up procedures, including the proper use of equipment in the performance of first aid.
• Tests water quality in pool and maintain appropriate records.
• Provides written reports on all accidents, maintains proper updated safety requirements.
• Attends in-service training and instructs certain skills to staff.
• Conducts patron swimming test to assess ability to swim independently and unattended.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Ability to lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis. Ability to perform tasks of a repetitive nature without diminished performance. Must be able to bend, squat, twist and stand as these movements are a regular requirement of this position. Must be able to physically respond and give emergency care if a situation arises.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOUEducation and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Two (2) years of Lifeguarding experience.
• Must have a valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certificate and American Red Cross First Aid Certificate.
• Must be certified in American Red Cross Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for the Professional Rescuer or become certified within 30 days of employment.
