Job summary

Ymca Bham is seeking a Lifeguard for a part-time position at the Mountain Brook location in Birmingham, AL. You will monitor swimmers, enforce rules, respond to emergencies, and maintain pool safety.

You’ll also manage chemical levels, keep the area clean, assist members, and collaborate with leadership while enjoying flexible scheduling and a meaningful, community-focused job.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 15 years old.
• Lifeguard certification (including CPR/AED and First Aid) or ability to obtain via YMCA training.
• Swim 300 yards continuously.
• Lift at least 50 pounds.
• Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Maintain constant surveillance of swimmers to ensure a safe aquatic environment.
• Enforce pool rules while creating a positive experience for members and guests.
• Respond quickly to emergencies and provide appropriate lifesaving care when needed.
• Monitor and record pool chemical levels to maintain water quality and safety.
• Keep the pool deck and surrounding areas clean, organized, and hazard-free.
• Assist members with questions and provide outstanding customer service.
• Open and close the aquatic facility and complete daily tasks.
