Shallow Water Lifeguard Certification

Job description

Respond to emergency situations professionally and efficiently, utilizing a teamwork approach.

Solve and handle guest concerns with a positive attitude and efficient customer service.

Interact with guests individually or in groups while maintaining professionalism.

Communicate and enforce all rider requirements and restrictions (e.g., height/weight restrictions, swimwear, riding position).

Ensure the safe operation of rides/attractions in the water park.

Deliver friendly, informative announcements to guests in small and large groups.

Maintain a clean work environment to promote safety and eliminate hazards.

Assist with park cleanliness and perform end-of-day cleaning tasks.

Complete attraction certification tests with 100% proficiency.

Accurately complete witness statements and other documentation as required.

Follow grooming and uniform guidelines consistently.

Enforce all park policies and procedures fairly and consistently.

Perform all duties in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, sun, rain, and wind.

Perform Water Attendant duties as needed.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Achieve and maintain certification as a Shallow Water Lifeguard.
• Maintain rescue skills at a “test-ready” level.
• Swim at least 50 yards non-stop.
• Retrieve a 10lb. brick from a minimum of 5 feet of water.
• Swim across 10 feet underwater.
• Exit a pool without using a ladder.
• Complete at least 4 hours of in-service training monthly.
• Work varied shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Communicate effectively in English (reading, speaking, understanding).
• Stand and move through water up to 6 feet deep for periods of time.
• Stand and walk 7-10 hours daily on various surfaces.
• Maintain 20/25 vision or corrected to that standard.
• Pull, push, and hold tubes, rafts, and mats continuously.
• Lift and carry at least 50 lbs. for 25 feet.
• Exhibit excellent communication skills and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Be professional, self-motivated, multi-task, and enthusiastic.
• Demonstrate strong teamwork skills.

Other Functions:

Perform other duties as assigned to support the park.
