Job summary

InterContinental Hotels Group is seeking a lifeguard for our resort in Guam. You will oversee pool and beach safety, enforce regulations, and respond quickly to emergencies while ensuring guest satisfaction and a clean, organized recreation area.

The role emphasizes teamwork, excellent communication, and the ability to work flexible shifts, weekends, and holidays in a luxury hotel/resort setting.

Qualifications

• Lifeguard certification current and recognized.

Job Requirements

1. This is local hire, At least one (1) year experience in a similar position with a Full-Service Hotel, Health Club with proven references in CPR, Emergency Medical Procedures and current certification as a Lifeguard by a recognized source of training.
2. Must be able to work Guam USA, without US work visa, looking for candidates who are US citizens, US Permanent Residents and Residents of Federated States of Micronesia.
3. Part Time position, may required to work 40 hours a week.
4. Must be able to work flexible shifts.
5. Must be able to work on Weekends, Holidays and inclement weather.
6. Maintain continuous surveillance of people in swimming pools, lakes and oceans
7. Ensure appropriate headcount of people involved in a watersport on an hourly basis
8. Provide safety information to people prior to them indulging in a water sport
9. Supervise swimmers to ensure that they are swimming within the safety protocols
10. Spot hazards or potential hazards and take measures to prevent accidents
11. Control and report unruly behavior and evict individuals not adhering to behavior protocols
12. Ensure that water sports such as beach volleyball and surfing is done within the parameters of set rules and regulation
13. Perform pool chemical checks to ensure safety and hygiene
14. Ensure all equipment is well maintained and in safe condition
15. Proven experience as a lifeguard, preferably in a luxury hotel/resort environment
16. Current lifeguard certification and up-to-date knowledge of CPR and first aid
17. Strong swimming skills and ability to swim long distances if needed
18. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
19. Ability to work in a team environment and maintain a professional appearance

Interact with guests in an engaging and friendly attitude and promote the Resort’s recreation activities and facilities to guests.

As a lifeguard, you will be responsible for overseeing the safety and well-being of our guests at the pool and beach areas. You will enforce all safety regulations and respond quickly and effectively to all aquatic emergencies. Your role will also involve maintaining cleanliness and order in your assigned areas to uphold our high standards of quality and guest satisfaction.

Your-day-to-day

People

• Promote teamwork and quality service through regular communication and coordination with managers, team members, and other departments.

Financial

• Process payments or other transactions (such as issuing bands or cards) with guests for recreation activities or facility use.
• Administer and monitor recreation activities and create or present reports as requested.
• Monitor and ensure adequate supplies of recreation or safety equipment and first aid items.

Guest Experience

• Lead and participate in pool and other recreational activities.
• Maintain a clean, neat and organized recreation area.
• Respond calmly and react quickly to emergencies.
• Act as a lifeguard and render first aid or CPR as needed.

Responsible Business

• Clean designated areas and equipment and inspect accordingly for any hazards.
• Monitor cleanliness of swimming pools and surrounding areas.
• May assist with other duties as required

What we need from you

1. Education - Basic reading, writing and math skills.
2. Service years - At least one (1) year experience in a similar position with a Full-Service Hotel, Health Club with proven references in CPR, Emergency Medical Procedures and current certification as a Lifeguard by a recognized source of training.
3. Knowledge and skills
   • Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds
   • Standing up, walking and moving about the facilities
   • Bending, stooping, kneeling
   • Handling recreation and safety equipment
   • Administer first aid or CPR
4. Language - Fluent in English (speaking, listening, reading and writing) Multi-lingual preferred but not required.
