The Lawrence Family JCC in San Diego, CA is seeking a Lifeguard to supervise the Friedenberg Olympic Pool and surrounding aquatics area. You will prevent accidents, respond to emergencies per ARC and JCC policies, and maintain a safe, welcoming environment for members and participants.

Requirements include being at least 16 years old, and current ARC Lifeguarding/First-Aid, Blood Pathogen, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certifications.

PAY RATE/STATUS: $19.00 per hour / Part-Time, Non-Exempt.

Under the direction of the Senior Director of Security & Sports, Fitness & Aquatics and the Assistant Director of Sports, Fitness, & Aquatics, the Lifeguard is responsible for the safety of members and participants in and around the aquatic facility. Prevents accidents and responds to emergencies per American Red Cross and JCC Aquatics policies. Provides vigilant supervision at the Lawrence Family JCC’s Friedenberg Olympic Pool, ensuring a safe, secure, welcoming environment; maintains communication with the SF&A Operations Specialist.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

• At least 16 years old.
• Current certifications: American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First-Aid, Blood Pathogen, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.
• Ability to communicate politely and courteously; punctual to all shifts; communicate verbally and in writing.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Frequent standing, walking, sitting, reaching.
• Vision: close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, adjust focus.
• Frequent bending/kneeling/crouching/reaching overhead.
• Dexterity to operate pool maintenance equipment, hand and power tools.
• Hearing and speaking to exchange information.
• Frequently lifting/carrying equipment or materials; ability to lift 30 lbs; pull pool covers 30–50 lbs.
• Perform all American Red Cross Lifeguarding skills and CPR/AED; pass lifeguard skills checklist quarterly.
