Job summary

The YMCA is seeking a part-time Lifeguard at the Pelham, AL location. You will maintain surveillance, enforce rules, and respond to emergencies while delivering excellent member service.

Candidates must hold Lifeguard certification (or be willing to obtain YMCA/Red Cross training), be able to swim 300 yards continuously, and lift 50 pounds. Expect a mission-driven, team-oriented environment with flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• Current YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (including CPR/AED and First Aid).
• Ability to swim 300 yards continuously.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
• Comfortable outdoors/indoors in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain constant surveillance of swimmers to ensure a safe aquatic environment.
• Enforce pool rules while creating a positive experience for members and guests.
• Respond quickly to emergencies and provide lifesaving care when needed.
• Monitor and record pool chemical levels to maintain water quality and safety.
• Keep the pool deck and surrounding areas clean, organized, and hazard-free.
• Assist members with questions and provide outstanding customer service.
• Open and close the facility and complete daily operational tasks.
• Collaborate with lifeguards and aquatics leadership.
