Job summary

YMCA in Newton, MA is seeking a lifeguard to monitor pool activities, enforce safety rules, and respond to emergencies in alignment with YMCA policies.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintains active surveillance of the pool area.

• Conducts regular chemical checks and pool circulation as needed.
• Cleans pool deck area when not guarding.
• Attends staff meetings and in-service training.
• Willing to take on additional duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Maintains active surveillance of the pool area
• Be proactive in injury prevention
• Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures
• Completes related reports (i.e. incident and accident reports) as required in a timely manner
• Must present a professional demeanor in proper uniform
• Active support of our DEIB statement
• Maintains effective, positive relationships with members, participants, and other staff
• Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the waterfront and aquatic area
• Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code
• Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed
• Performs regular chemical checks and circulation of pools as needed
• Cleans pool deck area when not guarding as required
• Attends all staff meetings and in-service training
• Willingness to accept responsibilities and duties other than those assigned

Requirements
