Position Summary:

Prevent drowning and other injuries in the Aquatics Center at the Glenwood Springs Community Center.

Essential Functions:

• Monitor activities in and near the water through patron surveillance.
• Prevent injuries by minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations or behaviors.
• Enforce facility rules and regulations and educate patrons about them.
• Recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.
• Administer first aid and CPR, including using an automated external defibrillator (AED).
• Work as a team with other lifeguards, facility staff, and management.
• Test the pool water chemistry.
• Assist patrons with safety orientations, administering swim tests, fitting lifejackets, and other duties.
• Perform cleaning or maintenance tasks.
• Complete forms and reports.
• Perform opening, closing, and safety inspections of the facility.

Other duties may be assigned as needed. The ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is mandatory.
