Job summary

The Lifeguard at the YMCA works with the Aquatics team to provide a safe and welcoming environment for members and guests. You will guard the pool, enforce rules, and respond quickly in emergencies while delivering excellent customer service and representing the YMCA's core values.

These duties support swim lessons and programs, and growth pathways exist within the aquatics team through training and advancement opportunities.

Qualifications

  • 16 years of age or older.
  • CPR-PR/AED, Oxygen Administration, and Standard First Aid or ability to obtain before hire.
  • American Red Cross/YMCA Lifeguard certification or ability to obtain before hire.
  • High customer relation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain constant surveillance of the pool area.
  • Enforce safety rules in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Respond quickly and confidently in emergency situations.
  • Provide first aid and emergency care when needed.
  • Build positive relationships with members and participants.
  • Support swim lessons and aquatic programs as assigned.

The Lifeguard will be responsible for guarding the pool and assuring a safe and clean aquatic environment for members and guests.
