Job summary

South Sound YMCA in Olympia, WA is seeking a Lifeguard to protect pool patrons by enforcing rules, maintaining a clean pool area, and ensuring chemical balance for a safe environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Maintain active surveillance of the pool area.
  • Respond to emergencies immediately per YMCA procedures and complete required reports.
  • Maintain safe, clean pool and surrounding area and enforce rules.
  • Keep accurate records as required by YMCA and Health Department codes.
  • Perform equipment checks and ensure needed equipment is available.
  • Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY:This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Lifeguard position is responsible for protecting the safety of patrons in and around the pool area by preventing potential accidents through rule enforcement, maintaining a clean uncluttered pool area, and maintaining a chemically balanced pool.OUR CULTURE:Our mission and core values are brought to life by our culture. Completes related reports as required.Maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants and other staff.Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.
