Job summary

Valor-Public-Schools is seeking a Life Skills Teacher in Kyle, Texas. This role involves working directly with students to improve their skills and implement Individual Education Programs (IEPs). The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree and a valid Texas teaching certificate with special education endorsements. A SAMA Certification is preferred. This is a full-time position with an anticipated start date in July 2026.

Life Skills Teacher

Position Overview

The Life Skills Teacher will work directly with students to help them improve and work toward goals. The teacher will also help develop, implement, and update IEPs (Individual Education Programs) for students. Adapt lessons to particular student needs and assess their ongoing development. Teach students individually or in small groups according to the need for growth. Clear communication with school leaders, teachers, and families about individual student’s progress and ways to assist student growth. Other roles and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignment
• SAMA Certified preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills

• Knowledge of special needs of students in assigned area
• Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal setting process and implementation
• Knowledge of how to adapt curriculum and instruction for special needs
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
