Job summary

SIUSLAW SD 97J in Florence, Oregon seeks a Special Education Classified Life Skills EA at Siuslaw Elementary School to support a Life Skills program. The 0.875 FTE position assists students across a wide range of settings, following SPED case manager guidance for individualized needs.

The role requires a high school diploma, ESSA qualification, and experience with students with disabilities. 10-month calendar with benefits; starting date is immediate.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• ESSA Highly Qualified.
• Knowledge of child growth and development.
• Experience with students with disabilities.
• Experience in a classroom setting preferred.
• Mandt training preferred, will be required to complete necessary training annually.
• First Aid/CPR card preferred, will be required to complete necessary training annually.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to plans and guidance from SPED case manager/teacher for legal requirements of education.
• Work with students on a wide range of curriculum from all levels (K-12) of academic coursework to independent living skills.
• Maintain confidentiality of information about students and staff.
• Attend behavior and physical management certification training as directed by SPED case manager/teacher.
• Implement behavior support plans and assist with challenging student behaviors using district-required training.
• Provide for the identified physical needs of students, including toileting and feeding protocols as needed.
• Coordinate and collaborate with General Education teachers, Special Education instructors, and staff.
• Effectively use technology for organization, communication, and recordkeeping.
• Attend events or program activities in the community with students as assigned.
