Job summary

Granbury ISD seeks a Special Education Aide (Life Skills) at Granbury High School to assist the special education teacher in meeting the physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities. You will support self-help, behavior management, and instructional activities under the supervision of a certified teacher and the principal.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, willingness to work 187 contract days, and ability to work with students with disabilities, including

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to use physical restraint as needed.
• Ability to work with children with disabilities.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instruction.
• Knowledge of general office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Uphold and enforce school rules, admin regulations and policy.
• Assist students with physical disabilities, including transfers and positioning.
• Assist with personal care and feeding as needed.
• Assist in managing behavior and crisis intervention.
• Develop motor skills with individual students or small groups.
• Supervise students inside and outside the classroom.
• Keep teacher informed of students' needs and problems.
• Assist in preparing instructional materials and displays.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Maintain records and reports as required.
• Provide orientation to substitute teachers.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Participate in staff development and meetings.
• Observe ethical standards per district policy.
