Job summary

Castle South Middle School in Newburgh, Indiana is seeking a Temporary Program Assistant (Life Skills) to support teachers and students in daily classroom activities. The role combines instructional and behavioral support with light administrative tasks, helping to create a structured and nurturing learning environment.

Starting immediately, the PA will assist with lessons, monitor behavior, set up materials, supervise during activities, and help administer tests.

Qualifications

Two years of study at an institution of higher education.
Obtained an associate’s degree.
Demonstrated knowledge of instruction, reading, writing and mathematics via assessment.

Responsibilities

Assist teacher with lessons, manage the classroom and supervise seat work.
Monitor the classroom and minimize distractions.
Support teacher by setting up work areas and distributing supplies.
Assist individual or small groups, reinforcing instruction as directed.
Assist in administering and scoring tests according to student performance and behavior.
Support programs to enhance academic, behavioral and social-emotional achievements.
Be a nurturing influence for students during lessons.
Supervise students outside the classroom during activities.
Assist substitute teachers with classroom routines during absences.
Perform other duties as assigned.
