Job summary

Resources for Human Development (RHD) is seeking a Life Skills Professional to support individuals with mental health and substance use challenges in a residential setting in Montgomery County, PA. This part-time role offers paid training, DailyPay, and a comprehensive benefits package administered through Apis Services, Inc.

Responsibilities include activities of daily living support, goal-oriented coaching, crisis response using trauma-informed practices, and collaboration with treatment teams

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Basic computer and internet skills, including email and electronic documentation.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to work with individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Support individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges in a residential setting.
  • Assist with activities of daily living, including meal planning, meal preparation, shopping, and household tasks.
  • Encourage and support individuals in achieving their treatment, recovery, and personal goals.
  • Provide supervision, guidance, and skill-building opportunities that promote independence and quality of life.
  • Facilitate community involvement, appointments, recreational activities, and transportation needs.
  • Monitor and respond appropriately to crisis situations using trauma-informed practices.
  • Document services, activities, progress notes, medication records, and other required program documentation.
  • Collaborate with treatment teams, clinical staff, and supervisors to ensure individuals receive quality care.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and respectful environment for all individuals served.
  • Monitor medications as assigned and follow all organizational policies and procedures.

What You'll Do
  • Support individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges in a residential setting
  • Assist with activities of daily living, including meal planning, meal preparation, shopping, and household tasks
  • Encourage and support individuals in achieving their treatment, recovery, and personal goals

Preferred
  • Prior experience in human services, behavioral health, residential services, or related fields

Schedule
  • Full-Time- 8am to 4pm
  • Schedule flexibility required based on program and business needs
  • Participation in on-call or emergency coverage may be required
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds or more
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, climb stairs, and drive as needed
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to safely assist individuals and respond to emergency situations as required
