Job summary

Valley Youth House in York, PA is seeking a full-time Life Skills Counselor. The role provides 1:1 instruction with youth, supporting transition goals within a trauma-informed, healing-centered team.

A two-year degree or 60–90 college credits in Social Work or related field is required; 1+ year youth/case-management experience and a valid driver’s license are also needed. We offer orientation, PTO, health/dental/vision, 401(k) with match, disability coverage, FSAs, wellness programs, tuition

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 60-90 college credits in Social Work or related field; degree in unrelated field requires at least 1 year of social services experience.
• One or more years experience working with youth and young adults or providing case management services.
• Valid driver's license and transportation that can safely transport clients if needed.
• Ability to work a hybrid schedule that includes evenings.
• Ability to complete the pre-employment physical and drug test requirements.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate 748 hours (17 hours a week x 44 weeks) of 1:1 instruction with their assigned caseload working on youth established goals in the Transition plan at the level of service determined by the Service level needs assessment.
• Ensure the timely & accurate completion of all required paperwork (includes documentation requirements) per the AAI Paperwork Guidelines document and the approved program description.
• Ensure timely updates to all members of the client's team per the guidelines listed in the approved program description.
• Represent Valley Youth House in a professional manner at all Court hearings, professional meetings and public events.

Minimum Qualifications of the Life Skills Counselor

• An associate's degree or equivalent of 60-90 college credits in Social Work or related field. If the degree is in an unrelated field then the candidate must have at least 1 year of experience in the social services field.
• One or more years experience working with youth and young adults or providing case management services.
• A valid driver's license, a motor vehicle report that meets agency requirements and reliable transportation that can safely transport clients if needed.
• Ability to work a hybrid schedule that includes evenings.
• Ability to complete the pre-employment physical and drug test requirements.
