Job summary

Valley Youth House is seeking a Life Skills Counselor AAI to provide 1:1 instruction with youth and coordinate with a treatment team. The role includes documenting all required paperwork and maintaining updates for the client’s file.

This is a full-time position located in Cumberland County with an emphasis on a trauma-informed approach. Ideal candidates hold a Social Work degree or related field, possess a driver’s license, and can work a hybrid schedule including evenings; pre-employment

Qualifications

• 1+ year experience in social services or youth work.
• Valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
• Ability to work a hybrid schedule including evenings.
• Completion of pre-employment physical and drug test requirements.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate 748 hours (17 hours/week x 44 weeks) of 1:1 instruction with assigned caseload.
• Complete required paperwork per guidelines and program description.
• Provide timely updates to client's team per guidelines.
• Represent Valley Youth House professionally at court hearings, meetings, and events.

Position: FT - Life Skills Counselor AAI ($21hr - $24hr)

Essential Functions of theLife Skills Counselor:

• Facilitate 748 hours (17 hours a week x 44 weeks) of 1:1 instruction with their assigned caseload working on youth established goals in the Transition/Independent Living plan at the level of service determined by the Service level needs assessment.
• Ensure the timely & accurate completion of all required paperwork (includes documentation requirements) per the AAI Paperwork Guidelines/Manual document and the approved program description.
• Ensure timely updates to all members of the client's team per the guidelines listed in the approved program description.
• Represent Valley Youth House in a professional manner at all Court hearings, professional meetings and public events.

Minimum Qualifications of theLife Skills Counselor:

• An bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field. If the degree is in an unrelated field then the candidate must have at least 1 year of experience in the social services field.
• One or more years experience working with youth and young adults or providing case management services.
• A valid driver's license, a motor vehicle report that meets agency requirements and reliable transportation that can safely transport clients if needed.
• Ability to work a hybrid schedule that includes evenings.
• Ability to complete the pre-employment physical and drug test requirements.

Physical Requirements for the Life Skills Counselor:

• Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing. X Occasionally
