Job summary

Valley Youth House is hiring a Full-time Life Skills Counselor. The role involves 1:1 instruction with youth, guided by Transition/Independent Living plans, and working within a trauma-informed framework to promote resilience and independence.

Responsibilities include maintaining required documentation, coordinating updates with the client team, and representing the agency professionally at court and community events.

Qualifications

• An associate's degree in Social Work or related field, or at least 1 year of social services experience.
• 1+ years experience working with youth/young adults or providing case management services.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to work a hybrid schedule including evenings.
• Pre-employment physical and drug test requirements.

• Facilitate 748 hours (17 hours/week x 44 weeks) of 1:1 instruction with the assigned caseload.
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of all required paperwork per guidelines.
• Provide timely updates to all team members per program guidelines.
• Represent Valley Youth House professionally at court hearings, meetings, and events.

Position: FT - Life Skills Counselor AAI ($21hr - $24hr)

Essential Functions of theLife Skills Counselor:

• Facilitate 748 hours (17 hours a week x 44 weeks) of 1:1 instruction with their assigned caseload working on youth established goals in the Transition/Independent Living plan at the level of service determined by the Service level needs assessment.
• Ensure the timely & accurate completion of all required paperwork (includes documentation requirements) per the AAI Paperwork Guidelines/Manual document and the approved program description.
• Ensure timely updates to all members of the client's team per the guidelines listed in the approved program description.
• Represent Valley Youth House in a professional manner at all Court hearings, professional meetings and public events.

Minimum Qualifications of theLife Skills Counselor:

• An associate's degree in Social Work or related field. If the degree is in an unrelated field then the candidate must have at least 1 year of experience in the social services field.
• One or more years experience working with youth and young adults or providing case management services.
• A valid driver's license, a motor vehicle report that meets agency requirements and reliable transportation that can safely transport clients if needed.
• Ability to work a hybrid schedule that includes evenings.
• Ability to complete the pre-employment physical and drug test requirements.

Physical Requirements for the Life Skills Counselor:

• Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing. X Occasionally
