Job summary

Kindly Direct Care is seeking a Direct Support Professional to provide one-to-one support to an adult with developmental disabilities in Elmwood Park, NJ 07407.

You will offer companionship, facilitate community participation, and support independence in daily activities. A reliable vehicle is required, and the role uses a part-time schedule (Mondays and Wednesdays, 8:00 AM–3:30 PM) with pay ranging from $22 to $25 per hour.

Qualifications

• Warm, patient and dependable; builds consistent relationships.
• Able to work the posted schedule.
• Comfortable supporting an adult in home and community settings.
• Reliable vehicle is required.
• Experience in DSP, mentoring, education, recreation, human services, or caregiving is helpful but not required.

About This Opportunity

This individual is looking for a consistent DSP who can provide companionship, help them get out into the community, and encourage greater independence. This is a strong fit for someone who enjoys building genuine relationships and helping another person participate more fully in everyday life.

What You’ll Do

• Provide one-to-one companionship and person-centered support.
• Help the individual get out into the community and participate in activities he enjoys, such as going to the mall, Target, swimming, and working out. Encourage and motivate him to stay active.
• Support errands, appointments, recreation, volunteering, social opportunities, or other community activities as applicable.
• Encourage independence, communication, decision-making, self-advocacy, and life skills.
• Help the individual work toward goals identified in the service plan.
• Provide reminders, routine support, or light assistance as required by the case.
• Maintain safety and follow individualized support instructions.
• Complete required documentation and communicate reliably with the Kindly team.
