Job summary

Copperas Cove ISD seeks a Life Skills/PCMD/FA Aide to support students with significant disabilities within the Special Education program. You will assist teachers in implementing highly structured instructional activities, support self-help and behavior management, and ensure safe classroom operations.

Required qualifications include 48 college credits or an associate degree or paraprofessional certificate, with certification within the first year.

Qualifications

• Certifications, Licenses, Registration: 48 hours of college credit, or Associate's Degree or higher, or HS/GED with Paraprofessional certificate, and certified within the first year of work.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Reasoning ability: apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group services to students per IEPs.
• Collaborate with teachers to improve classroom activities and language skills.
• Maintain reports, records, and required documents.
• Assist students with physical disabilities including transfers, lifting, or positioning.
• Support learning needs and adapt to each student’s medical, physical, and emotional requirements.
• Assist with personal care including feeding, toileting, and hygiene as needed.
• Help manage behavior and crisis situations while ensuring safety.
• Supervise students inside/outside the classroom and during meals, bus duty, and play periods.
• Keep teachers informed of student needs and progress.
• Develop motor skills and activities as directed by the teacher.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow SPED guidelines and district policies.
