Job summary

Fenwick & West seeks a technology advisor or patent agent for its life sciences patent practice, to join in Silicon Valley, Boston, or New York offices. Ideal candidates hold a Ph.D. in Chemistry or related field (or an M.D.

with research experience) and are USPTO-registered patent agents or eligible to sit for the exam. This is a full-time, in-office role with at least three days per week on site. Responsibilities include prior art searches, analyzing patents and papers to support prosecution,

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Biology, or related field.
• M.D. with research experience acceptable for life sciences focus.
• Must be a registered USPTO patent agent or eligible to sit for the exam.

Responsibilities

• Conduct prior art database searches for patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.
• Analyze patents and scientific papers to assist patent attorneys on prosecution, counseling, and litigation.
• Draft patent applications and responses to office actions.
• Participate in post-grant proceedings at the USPTO.
