Job summary

Douglas County Emergency Management seeks dedicated individuals to serve as Emergency Communications Specialists. These dispatchers are the first contact in emergencies, processing 911 and non‑emergency calls, dispatching police, fire and EMS, and guiding responders using CAD and vital databases.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED and two years of customer service or general full-time work experience.
• Sound judgment and attention to detail; professional customer service.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts including days, swings, nights, holidays and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls for multiple agencies.
• Enter call information into CAD and update records.
• Relay concise, accurate information to responders and public safety staff.
• Monitor and coordinate responder locations and status.
• Provide instructions to 9‑1‑1 callers when needed.
• Participate in Quality Assurance reviews and training.
