Job summary

Conway Public School District seeks a Life Safety Systems Technician to maintain and repair the district's life safety systems across facilities. The role focuses on fire alarm, cameras, access control, intercoms, DVRs, and network systems, with a strong emphasis on preventative maintenance and reliability.

The technician will perform firmware/software updates, install new equipment, and use the district work order system.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; Arkansas license preferred.
• At least three years experience with fire alarms, access control, surveillance, intercom and network systems.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders and perform physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and maintains the District facilities and property.
• Maintains the life safety system, including fire alarm, cameras, DVRs, access control, intercom and network systems.
• Performs preventative maintenance and scheduled checks on the above systems.
• Performs monthly backups to decrease downtime in case of equipment failure.
• Performs firmware and software updates on equipment as needed.
• Installs new equipment (cameras, access doors, access software, intercoms, speakers, etc.).
• Uses the District work order system and District forms.
• Follows all MSDS directions and safety procedures for chemicals used by the District.
• Willing to assist with other assignments as directed by the maintenance supervisor.
• Ability to work and communicate with District personnel and students.
• Other duties as assigned.

Terms Of Employment

The contract length will be 240 days.

Evaluation

Based on local district policy and Arkansas Department of Education guidelines, and performed by the maintenance supervisor.

Job Goal

The Life Safety Systems Technician will endeavor to establish a knowledge of maintaining building systems and grounds to provide a safe learning environment for staff and students.

Performance Responsibilities

• Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures.
• Repairs and maintains the District facilities and property.
• Maintains the facility's life safety system, to include:
• Troubleshooting and repairing the fire alarm, cameras, digital video recorders, access control, intercom, and network systems;
• Performing preventative maintenance of the above-listed systems, to include scheduled checks of the functionality of all systems;
• Performing monthly backups to decrease downtime in the event of an equipment failure;
• Performing firmware and software updates on equipment, as needed;
• Performing installation of new equipment (cameras, access doors, access software, intercoms, speakers, etc.)
• Uses the District work order system and District forms.
• Follows all Material Safety Data Sheet directions on all chemical products used by the Conway Public Schools; uses proper labeling and follows all safety procedures.
• Willing to assist with other assignments given by the maintenance supervisor.
• Ability to work and communicate with other Conway Public School District personnel and students.
• Other duties, as assigned.
