Job summary

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners seeks an Electronics Technician (Life Safety Systems - Security) for the Facilities Management Division. This role installs, maintains, and troubleshoots electronic security systems; documents work orders in CMMS; and supports networked systems including CCTV, access control, and IP video surveillance.

Requires 3 years of electronics experience and a Florida driver’s license; CJIS background checks may apply as per policy.

Qualifications

Requires three (3) years of working with electronics and low and high voltage.
Valid Florida Class E or higher driver's license for duration of assignment.
CJIS background screening may be required for unescorted work locations.
Graduation from an accredited Electronics vocational school is preferred.
Associate degree or higher in Electronics or closely related field preferred.
BASA, CompTIA A+, and CompTIA Network+ certifications are desirable.

Responsibilities

Install, program, configure, test, troubleshoot, repair and maintain electronic security systems including intrusion detection, CCTV, IP video surveillance and access control.
Document status of maintenance work orders using computerized maintenance management software (CMMS).
Design and implement computer networks (TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, routers/switches, IP addressing, PoE).
Supervise on-site maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting of electronic equipment.
Assign work to subordinate technicians and help ensure quality and timely completion of tasks.
