Job summary

UNC Finance and Operations seeks a Technical Team Leader for the Life Safety Shop to provide technical support, training, and oversight of system programming changes and installations. You will lead technicians, perform essential inspections and ensure compliance with NFPA and NC codes.

The role requires NICET Level II in Fire Alarm Systems and Water-Based Systems, as well as Fire Sprinkler licenses and a valid NC driver’s license.

Qualifications

NICET Level II certification in Fire Alarm Systems is required.
NICET Level II certification in Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems is required.
Fire Sprinkler Inspection Technician License issued by the NC State Board is required.
Fire Sprinkler Maintenance Technician License issued by the NC State Board is required.
Candidates must possess a valid NC Driver's License or obtain one before hire.

Responsibilities

Lead and train technicians assigned to the Life Safety Shop, providing orientation and support.
Review and approve system programming changes prior to downloading.
Perform FACP programming changes, downloads, and ensure accurate documentation and storage.
Conduct walk-through, pre-final, and final 100% acceptance inspections for Life Safety systems.
Ensure PM inspections and repairs meet manufacturer specs and NFPA standards.
Manage licensing/certifications and schedule renewals per NC requirements.
