Job summary
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a Life Safety Lead Technician to lead the Life Safety Shop. Responsibilities include technical leadership, programming reviews, and coordinating system modifications to ensure safety-critical life-safety systems operate correctly.
Minimum qualifications include an Associate’s degree in electronics, NICET Level II certifications for fire alarm and water-based systems, and NC licenses for fire sprinkler work.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in electronics is required or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- NICET Level II certification in Fire Alarm Systems is required.
- NICET Level II certification for Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems is required.
- Fire Sprinkler Inspection Technician License is required; maintenance licenses also required or obtainable within 3 years.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the Life Safety Shop activities, providing programming and system support.
- Perform and supervise Fire Alarm and life-safety system installations, testing, and commissioning.
- Ensure compliance with NFPA, NC codes, and manufacturer specifications; manage punch-lists and inspections.
