Job summary

The position supports emergency response, contractor coordination, and ongoing safety training with focus on accurate record-keeping and preventive maintenance for campus protection.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent plus 3–5 years of experience in fire safety systems.
• At least 3–5 years of experience in fire prevention, life safety or related field.
• Knowledge of NFPA, OSHA and local fire life safety regulations.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Must meet University automobile insurance requirements.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication skills for training and interaction with staff.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and test fire protection and detection systems for compliance with laws, codes and standards.
• Troubleshoot and arrange repair or replacement of defective fire equipment and elevators.
• Conduct building inspections to verify life-safety compliance.
• Respond to emergencies to assess fire/safety threats.
• Maintain extinguishers, alarm systems and sprinklers.
• Disable and re-enable fire panels as directed.
• Coordinate with contractors and review their work for code compliance.
• Assist in developing emergency procedures and training requirements.
• Maintain records and prepare inspection reports.
• Other duties as assigned by the manager.
