Job summary

Code Red Consultants is seeking a Life Safety Intern to support professional engineers and subject matter experts. You will conduct on-site inspections, prepare code reports, and perform code reviews to ensure compliance with building and fire safety standards.

The role emphasizes teamwork, independent work habits, and strong communication. Prior AutoCAD/Revit familiarity is a plus; junior-year engineering students are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Completed at least junior year of undergraduate engineering studies (ABET accredited preferred).
• Enrollment in a Fire Protection Engineering master's program is preferred but not required.
• Leadership skills, strong work ethic, ability to work independently.
• Self-motivated and team oriented.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Capable of multi-tasking, meeting deadlines and dealing with changes.
• Proactive communication and time management skills.
• Interest in team-based, collaborative environment focusing on delivering client value.
• AutoCAD and/or Revit experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site visual inspections for building compliance with codes (fire, life safety, accessibility).
• Write code reports detailing fire protection and life safety features and code compliance.
• Perform code reviews of architectural/engineering plans for code compliance.
• Provide performance-based design solutions (fire modeling, egress modeling, structural fire resistance).
• Develop code summaries, life safety, and egress plans in AutoCAD and Revit.
• Perform commissioning and inspections of fire protection and life safety systems.
• Conduct fire stop special inspections.
