Job summary

Park Hyatt Aviara in Carlsbad, CA, part of Hyatt Hotels Corporation, is seeking a part-time Lifeguard to support the Recreation Department. You will monitor pool areas, enforce rules, assist with equipment rentals, and provide guest information.

The role requires CPR/AED and Lifeguard Training, strong customer service, and the ability to respond quickly in emergencies. Hourly pay is $20, with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Current CPR/AED and Lifeguard Training certifications.
• Knowledge of preventive lifeguarding, water rescues, first aid and CPR.
• Ability to swim with proficiency and endurance.
• Ability to analyze situations and act quickly.
• Maintain constant observation of an assigned area to identify signs of danger.
• Deal effectively and tactfully with guests and work with others.

Responsibilities

• Observe swimmers to ensure policies, rules and regulations are followed.
• Maintain group and individual pool discipline.
• Rescue individuals in danger and provide first aid as needed.
• Provide information about aquatic facilities and programs; assist with events and maintenance of facilities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

About the Role – Lifeguard (Part-Time)

The Lifeguard is a support position to the Recreation Department. Responsibilities include maintaining a safe, clean pool environment. This person must be customer service oriented and be able to provide hotel information as well as assist with recreation rental equipment. The person in this position will observe swimmers, protect life, prevent accidents, enforce regulations and do related work as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Observe the activities of swimmers in and around a public pool to assure that policies, rules, and regulations are observed, and hazards are eliminated or minimized
• Maintain group and individual discipline
• Rescue persons in danger and provide first aid as necessary
• Give accurate information about aquatic facilities and programs. Assist in conducting special events and in the maintenance operation of aquatic facilities
• Other duties as assigned

Wage Information

The hourly rate for this position is $20.00.

Qualifications

Possess current certificates in the following:

• CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (CPR-FPR)
• Lifeguard Training

Knowledge of:

Principles and techniques of preventive lifeguarding, water rescues, first aid, and CPR

Ability To:

• Swim with proficiency and endurance
• Analyze situations and adopt a quick, effective course of action
• Maintain constant observation of an assigned area to identify signs of danger
• Deal effectively and tactfully with guests, and work cooperatively with others
