Job summary

Ebenezer is seeking an Activities Assistant to plan and implement quality leisure/social events for residents, helping them maintain physical, social and mental potential, and to drive the Ebenezer bus for outings.

You will lead events, conduct exercise classes, coordinate with departments, assist with special events and family functions, document activities, and promote resident independence while safeguarding passengers during transport.

Qualifications

• None to 1 Year
• Working knowledge of basic Microsoft applications
• Must be able to work irregular hours, occasional weekends and evenings
• Driver’s License Current Driver’s License (in good standing)
• Medical Exam Certification
• Must be at least 18-years old
• Must be insurable under the employers Auto Insurance Coverage
• Must complete and pass in-house transportation curriculum course and pass driving evaluation. within 30 Days

Responsibilities

• Assists with leisure programs and activities
• Leads social events and activity programs
• Conducts exercise class for residents
• Communicates and coordinates activity/leisure programs with all departments
• Assists other departments with special events and family functions
• Documents as required
• Offers suggestions and ideas to improve the events program to the Life Enrichment Director
• Assists in meeting the psychosocial needs of residents
• Encourages resident participation
• Reports change in resident attitude, mood or physical status to appropriate staff
• Promotes resident independence by offering choices and fostering self-help skills
• Assists residents in developing relationships and effectively socializing
• Drives Ebenezer van/bus for resident outings
• Reviews and completes Vehicle Requirements – Transporting Residents Checklist prior to each resident outing
• Maintains a log of transportation services and tasks performed throughout the driving period
• Responsible for the safety and welfare of passengers
• Practices sound, safe judgment when performing transportation services including but not limited to: fire/disaster procedures and infection control procedures
• Recognizes and acts appropriately on safety hazards and incidents
• Follows all laws with regard to operating a motor vehicle
• Immediately reports any traffic violations or accidents
