Job summary

Western States Lodging & Management is seeking a Life Enrichment Assistant to create engaging experiences for residents in Utah. You will take ownership of activity planning, lead programs independently, and collaborate with residents and the care team to reflect individual interests and needs.

You will help develop calendars, organize spaces and supplies, and support outings while promoting safety, dignity, and inclusion.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in life enrichment, recreation, activities, senior living, hospitality, customer service, or related field.
• Current CPR certification if required by the state.
• Experience leading or assisting with group activities and programs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and execute recreational, social, cultural, and religious activities.
• Lead selected activities independently (e.g., exercise classes, music sessions, crafts).
• Assist Recreation Director with monthly activity calendars.
• Engage residents to learn interests, preferences, abilities, and desired activities.
• Collaborate with care team to integrate activities into resident care plans.
• Prepare activity spaces, organize supplies, and ensure programs are ready.
• Provide encouragement and promote safety, dignity, and inclusion during activities.
• Assist with outings and transportation as needed, including occasional driving.
• Maintain positive relationships with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers.

Do you enjoy creating engaging experiences that bring people together? Western States Lodging & Management is looking for a Life Enrichment Assistant who is creative, compassionate, and ready to take a more active role in developing meaningful activities and experiences for our residents.

In this role, you'll build on your experience by taking greater ownership of activity planning and execution, leading select programs independently, and working closely with residents and the care team to ensure activities reflect individual interests, abilities, and preferences.

What You'll Do

• Take an active role in planning, organizing, and executing recreational, social, cultural, and religious activities.
• Lead selected activities independently, such as exercise classes, music sessions, games, crafts, and other group programs.
• Assist the Recreation Director with creating and maintaining monthly activity calendars.
• Engage with residents to learn about their interests, preferences, abilities, and desired activities.
• Help develop activities that encourage social connection, physical engagement, creativity, and personal fulfillment.
• Collaborate with care team members and other associates to integrate meaningful activities into residents’ care plans.
• Assist with preparing activity spaces, organizing supplies and equipment, and ensuring programs are ready for residents.
• Provide encouragement and support to residents during activities while promoting safety, dignity, and inclusion.
• Assist with resident outings and transportation when needed, including occasional driving.
• Maintain positive relationships with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers.

What Makes You Successful

• 1-3 years of experience in life enrichment, recreation, activities, senior living, hospitality, customer service, or a related field.
• Current CPR certification if required by the state.
• Experience leading or assisting with group activities and programs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Creativity and enthusiasm for developing engaging activities.
• Patience, compassion, and a genuine desire to work with seniors and/or individuals with disabilities.
• Ability to understand and respond to individual resident interests and preferences.
• Ability to frequently walk, stand, bend, stoop, sit, and reach.
