Job Title: Life Enrichment Assistant

**Location:**Altoona Nursing and Rehab

Job Type: Full-Time

Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Life Enrichment Assistant to join our dedicated team in enhancing the quality of life for our residents. The Life Enrichment Assistant will work closely with the Life Enrichment Coordinator and interdisciplinary team to plan, implement, and evaluate engaging activities and programs that promote social interaction, intellectual stimulation, and overall well-being for our residents, particularly those in assisted living or skilled nursing settings.

Key Responsibilities:

- Activity Planning and Implementation: Collaborate with the Life Enrichment Coordinator to design and execute a diverse range of programs and activities that cater to the varying interests and abilities of residents.

- Resident Engagement: Foster meaningful relationships with residents by actively encouraging participation in activities and events, and providing support as needed.

- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of resident participation in programs and activities, and report feedback and observations to the Life Enrichment Coordinator.

- Safety and Well-being: Ensure that all activities are conducted in a safe environment and adhere to facility policies. Monitor residents for any signs of distress or discomfort during participation.

- Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including nursing, dietary, and housekeeping, to ensure a holistic approach to residents’ well-being.

- Adaptation of Activities: Tailor activities to meet the physical, cognitive, and emotional needs of residents, making adjustments as necessary to accommodate individuals with differing abilities.

- Community Involvement: Encourage community engagement by organizing outings and inviting local groups to participate in activities within the facility.

- Training Support: Assist in training and mentoring volunteers and new staff members on program delivery and resident engagement techniques.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or GED required; relevant experience in healthcare, social work, recreation therapy, or a related field preferred.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a genuine passion for working with seniors.

- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

- Creative mindset with the ability to develop engaging activities that resonate with residents.

- Familiarity with the needs and challenges faced by seniors, particularly those with cognitive impairments.

- Basic computer skills for documentation and communication purposes.
