Qualifications

• Prior life claims adjusting experience required.
• Experience reading and interpreting policy language for benefits.
• Experience in Contestability or Rescission investigations a plus.
• Strong reading of medical records.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to work in a production-based environment and meet quantity requirements.
• Great attention to detail, good judgment, and strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Adjudicate life insurance claims and ROP claims based on policy provisions and state guidelines.
• Review policy language, medical records, and eligibility determinations.
• Identify beneficiaries and potential fraud indicators.
• Process claim payments accurately and timely.
• Correspond with beneficiaries, customers, and co-workers clearly and professionally.
• Assist with ad hoc projects and operational initiatives as needed.

And, we offer half-day Fridays – every Friday!Summary of Responsibilities:The primary responsibility of the Life Insurance Claims Adjuster IV will be to adjudicate claims and Return of Premium (ROP) claims based on variable contract provisions, benefits, and state guidelines. The person in this position must be able to understand policy contract language, insurance applications, state statutes, interpret medical records, determine appropriate beneficiaries, identify potential fraud, and correctly calculate the benefits due.Gather and review required documentationConducts medical history investigationsConducting accident or homicide investigationsAccurate and timely processing of ROP claimsEstablishes eligibility and large dollar benefitsAccurate and timely processing of claim paymentsMeet department quality and production standardsCorresponds with beneficiaries, customers, and co-workers clearly, accurately, and professionallyCustomer phone interaction with beneficiaries, family members, and funeral homes is necessaryProvide assistance with ad hoc projects and operational initiatives as neededPrior Life claim adjusting experience is requiredExperience reading and interpreting many different types of policy languages for benefit administrationExperience in Contestability, or Rescission investigations a plus.Basic knowledge of software - Microsoft word, Excel a plus.Previous Health/Life insurance Customer Service experienceBasic ability to read and interpret medical recordsExcellent verbal communication on calls and written communication for request and benefit lettersAbility to analyze risk and identify potential fraud flagsAble to work within a production-based environment and meet quantity requirementsMust have great attention to detail, good judgment, and strong organizational skillsThe pay range for this role is $32.50 - $38.00/hour. The pay range provided is not a guarantee of compensation. The range reflects potential pay for the job grade for this role at the time of this posting. Compensation will depend on several factors such as specific competencies, relevant education and experience, qualifications, and industry certifications. Compensation ranges are subject to change and may be higher or lower than the range described above.
