Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Corrections seeks a supervising security role to coordinate and direct staff, oversee inmate custody, and protect public property in a medium-security facility.

Responsibilities include counts, complaint investigations, and arbitration of disputes; completion of SCDC Basic Training is required within eight weeks of hire.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma and three years’ experience in correctional, security, military, or police work, with one year of supervisory experience.
• A degree in criminal justice or related field may substitute for supervisory experience year for year (associate and above = 1 year).
• Must be certified by the SCDC training academy and complete the basic supervisory course within six months of entry.
