Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) is seeking a full-time shift supervisor at the Gadsden Correctional Facility in Quincy, FL. You will supervise sergeants, manage inmate custody, and enforce ACA, MTC, and FDOC directives to maintain a safe, secure environment.

You will respond to emergencies, oversee records, and ensure proper reporting. A high school diploma and 3 years corrections experience, including supervisory responsibility, are required. Florida driver's license preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent and three years of corrections experience in an adult environment, with at least one year in a supervisory role.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills are required to manage staff and inmate custody.
• Valid Florida driver's license with an acceptable driving record, unless waived.

Responsibilities

• Serve as shift supervisor and conduct shift briefings.
• Supervise and train staff and inmates; schedule work and off-duty time.
• Maintain custody and security of inmates and conduct contraband searches.
• Coordinate transfer and transport of inmates and respond to emergencies.
• Prepare accurate reports and logs.

Position Summary:

Reports to the chief of security. Directly supervises assigned sergeants. Responsible for the custody and discipline of inmates in the facility in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Management & Training Corporation (MTC), and Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC) directives.

Essential Functions:

• - Serve as shift supervisor.
• - Conduct shift briefings.
• - Supervise, protect, instruct, train, counsel and evaluate assigned employees and inmates; schedule employees' and inmates' work and off-duty time; assist in formulating security and work procedures.
• - Supervise and provide custody and security of inmates including observation of inmates and inmates assigned to work duty, which includes climbing stairs, long periods of sitting, standing, and walking.
• - Supervise and direct searches for contraband including ‘pat’ and ‘strip’ searches by squatting and bending to perform such functions.
• - Transfer and transport inmates by walking or riding in vehicles. Restrain and secure assaultive inmates as needed.
• - Read, review and properly apply information found in inmate records which is related to the inmates' health and safety and to the security of the facility. Provide appropriate information to other personnel.
• - Supervise the preparation and maintenance of records, forms and reports.
• - Perform specific duties if assigned to the following areas: housing unit, restrictive housing unit and intake.
• - Respond to emergencies to search for inmates, hearing calls for and calling for help, administer first aid at the emergency site, carry an injured or unconscious offender, and use force, including chemical agents and firearms in accordance with company policy and agency regulations.
• - Read, review and properly apply information found in offender records which is related to the offenders’ health and safety and to the security of the facility. Provide appropriate information as needed to other personnel and maintain confidentiality.
• - Prepare and complete required reports and logs in a thorough, accurate and timely manner.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of corrections experience in an adult correctional environment or related field required, one (1) of which must be in a supervisory capacity. Valid driver’s license in the state of Florida with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Post Hire Requirements:

Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements.
