Job summary

Bay Area Learning Academy is seeking an enthusiastic Afterschool Center Lead Teacher to guide 3rd–5th grade students in Millbrae, CA. Join a structured afterschool program focused on academics, enrichment, and a safe learning environment.

You will lead a classroom, plan engaging activities, mentor junior staff, and maintain open communication with families and coordinators to support each child’s progress.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience working with elementary-aged children in an educational setting.
• Strong classroom management and leadership skills.
• Ability to create engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans and activities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents, and staff.
• Must pass a background check and meet California childcare compliance requirements.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a classroom of 3rd–5th grade students.
• Plan and implement engaging academic support activities, homework help, and enrichment programs.
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment for all students.
• Supervise and mentor assistant teachers, tutors, or interns.
• Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and program coordinators regarding student progress.
• Manage classroom behavior using positive reinforcement strategies.
• Ensure student safety and well-being throughout all program activities.
