Job summary

The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. through CU Boulder Venture Partners seeks an Associate Licensing Manager for Physical Sciences to manage intellectual property from world‑leading scientists and engineers and advance research toward social and economic impact.

You will build relationships with faculty and industry partners, implement IP strategies, and guide inventors through education and funding resources, while coordinating startup development programs.

Qualifications

• Experience in technology and IP management, licensing and/or innovation commercialization roles.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of inventions in engineering and physical sciences.
• Build strong relationships with faculty, graduate students and post-doctoral inventors.
• Solicit and assess early inventions, including analysis of potential value proposition, IP rights, and technology readiness.
• Implement IP strategies for protection, prosecution, and enforcement of IP rights.
• Coordinate with contracts and grants unit to align IP terms with sponsored research agreements.
• Interface with Venture Partners for startup development programming.
• Prioritize portfolio assets and refer to resources for inventor education, mentorship, funding, licensee identification, and startup formation.
• Provide portfolio expertise for ecosystem partners such as accelerators, incubators, and investors.
• Draft, negotiate, and manage IP agreements including options, licenses, and joint-owner plans.
