Job description

What if you could help shape the regulatory path for technology that could transform how the United States manages used nuclear fuel? We're looking for a Licensing Manager who wants to do more than maintain existing licenses. You'll help build the licensing strategy for a new nuclear fuel recycling operation, navigate complex regulatory challenges, and play a key role in bringing groundbreaking technology closer to commercial reality.

Job Summary

We're seeking an experienced Licensing Manager to lead regulatory licensing efforts for an emerging nuclear fuel recycling operation. This remote opportunity offers the chance to develop a licensing roadmap from the ground up, establish regulatory strategies, and collaborate with engineering and technical teams to advance new nuclear technology through rigorous approval processes.

You’ll work closely with regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders to determine licensing requirements, coordinate technical documentation, and establish a clear path toward regulatory approval. Travel to project sites and regulatory meetings will be required as needed.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop and execute licensing strategies for new nuclear fuel recycling technologies, establishing regulatory pathways, project milestones, and approval requirements.
  • Lead engagement with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Department of Energy (DOE), and other applicable regulatory authorities to support licensing activities.
  • Partner with engineering and technical teams to identify required safety analyses, technical documentation, design inputs, and supporting regulatory submissions.
  • Coordinate the preparation, review, and submission of licensing applications while addressing regulatory questions and maintaining compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Help establish the regulatory framework for a growing business unit, balancing rigorous nuclear safety standards with practical project timelines and commercial objectives.
What You’ll Bring
  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Nuclear Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • At least 7 years of experience in nuclear licensing, regulatory affairs, or closely related regulatory work involving complex nuclear technologies or facilities.
  • Experience working with NRC or DOE regulatory processes, or comparable rigorous nuclear regulatory frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience guiding new technologies through complex regulatory approval processes, including developing licensing strategies and coordinating technical submissions.
  • Strong knowledge of nuclear regulatory requirements, with the ability to collaborate across engineering, safety, and technical disciplines and communicate effectively with regulatory authorities.

Experience in nuclear fuel‑cycle operations, nuclear chemical processing, radiochemistry, or reprocessing facilities is highly valued. Experience supporting national laboratories, pilot‑scale nuclear projects, or both government and commercial nuclear programs is also a plus.

We offer a base salary of $160,000–$200,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications, along with a comprehensive compensation package.

This is a remote opportunity with the chance to contribute to an innovative nuclear recycling initiative, work alongside experienced technical leaders, and help establish the regulatory foundation for a growing operation.

If you're passionate about nuclear innovation and want to play a defining role in bringing new technology through the licensing process, we'd love to hear from you.
