Job summary

City of Cambridge seeks an Executive Officer to lead administrative functions for the License Commission and Pole & Conduit Commission. You will supervise staff, handle filings, fees, and background checks, and maintain records. You will coordinate hearings, prepare reports, and respond to inquiries while ensuring compliance with procedures and regulations.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree (J.D. preferred), several years of supervisory and administrative experience, and strong communication

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; J.D. preferred.
  • Legal education or background, or minimum two years of legal work experience.
  • Three years of supervisory experience and relevant administrative experience.
  • Municipal licensing experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interact daily with the public and City employees to coordinate hearings and support Commission business.
  • Process new and renewal applications; manage files, fees, fines, and background checks.
  • Serve as Keeper of Records and respond to public information requests.
  • Attend hearings, draft reports/minutes/notices, and assist at meetings.
  • Oversee notices, newspaper publication, and abutter notifications.
  • Coordinate with departments and agencies to enforce licensing laws.
