Job summary

The Oklahoma Military Department is seeking a Licensend Practical Nurse to support the Sooner Job Challenge program in Oklahoma City. The Nurse assists the Medical Administrative Coordinator (RN) in delivering nursing care, performing routine assessments, and coordinating medical services for students.

Starting Salary is $56,526.50 annually with benefits. Requires an Oklahoma LPN license and drive license, plus one year of nursing experience; weekend call rotation is required and federal

Qualifications

  • Possession of a valid permanent Oklahoma LPN license and one year of practical nursing experience.
  • eNLC LPN license accepted with one year of practical nursing experience.
  • Knowledge of nursing techniques, infection control, and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily sick calls and determine appropriate treatment plans.
  • Coordinate medical care including office visits, ER visits, medications, and equipment.
  • Transport students to ER or appointments as needed and assist with follow-up care.
  • Assess, report and record health status and maintain student medical records.
  • Order, dispense, and track medications and coordinate refills.

This position will perform technical direct and indirect nursing care to students under the supervision and direction of the Medical Admin Coord to include taking temperatures, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure and various other technical nursing tasks in providing health care to the students.**Essential Functions:*** This position under the supervision of the Medical Admin Coordinator (RN) will assist in providing medical services to students in accordance with knowledge, skills, and licensure.* Conduct daily sick call and determine treatment plans.* Assist in coordinating medical care for students, including office visits, hospital (ER visits), pharmaceutical needs, medical equipment, and other services.* Transport students to ER, medical appointments or other activities as necessary.* Assist with follow-up care for medical, dental, vision, and related health issues.* Order, pack and dispense medications accurately. Coordinate medication refills.* Reports appropriate patient information to supervisor.* Assist in assessing, reporting and recording health status of students and maintaining student medical records.* Translate technical information as needed to individuals of varied technical levels.* Develop and maintain a professional rapport with parents, medical providers, students, and other Job Challenge staff.* Provide education to students on health-related topics as necessary.* Assist in tracking and maintaining inventories of medical supplies.* Required to participate in weekend call rotation.* Attend meetings and trainings as required to maintain certifications and license and as directed by the requirements of the state and program.This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Internet and computer skills for program database entry.**Education and Experience:** Possession of a valid permanent Oklahoma license as a licensed practical nurse as approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing plus one year of practical nursing experience; or,Licensed Practical Nurse License recognized by the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) plus one year of practical nursing experience.**Licenses/Certificates required**: Valid permanent Oklahoma Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) License and a valid Oklahoma Driver's License**Benefits**: This is a full-time state position that provides a percentage of matching contributions to employees' retirement plans, 11 holidays, and a minimum of 15 days of annual and sick leave per year.
