Job summary

Santa Rosa County is seeking a licensed operator to supervise and perform technical work at a water/wastewater facility and distribution system. Responsibilities include managing staff, scheduling, chlorination, sampling, inspections and recordkeeping to ensure reliable water service.

The role requires leadership in safety, adherence to DER/EPA regulations, and the ability to interact professionally with the public.

Qualifications

Supervises and evaluates staff; involvement in hiring, termination and disciplinary decisions.
Schedules and assigns personnel to shifts; trains and instructs new personnel.
Directs activities to maintain adequate water supply levels and pressures.
Supervises safe chlorination of water.

Responsibilities

Supervises and participates in testing and treatment for sterilization of wells, mains and storage tanks.
Develops water sampling procedures.
Conducts regular inspections of supply facility.
Detects malfunctions of equipment and initiates corrective actions.
Prepares and maintains records and reports.
Relieves operators or trainees as needed.
Interacts with the public in a courteous manner.
Represent the County in a professional manner at all times.
May assist in disaster preparation and recovery efforts as designated.
Meet minimum attendance standards.
Performs related duties as required.
