General Description Of The Position
The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) at Tatum Psychology Employment Group provides direct nursing care and support to patients. Under the supervision of the Lead Nurse, the LVN will work within the LVN scope of practice, including monitoring patients’ physical and emotional well-being, administering prescribed treatments and medications, and documenting patient care activities. The LVN will support recovery and rehabilitation, while promoting a safe, therapeutic, and respectful care environment. The LVN will collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical teams, observe and report patient behaviors, assist with medical procedures, and contribute to the overall treatment plan.
Essential Functions
- Patient Care & Monitoring
- Assumes responsibility and accountability for designated patients.
- Provide nursing, psychiatric, and personal care to patients.
- Monitor patient’s psychical and emotional well-being and report unusual behavior or psychical ailments to staff.
- Observe and influence patient’s behavior.
- Gathers data regarding patient needs while providing direct patient care.
- Take and record measures of patients’ physical condition, using devices such as thermometers and blood pressure gauges.
- Medication Administration & Treatment
- Administer medications and treatments following physician’s prescriptions.
- Issue medication from dispensary and maintain records in accordance with specified procedures.
- Provides IV Therapy according to nursing policy and procedure that is within LVN scope of practice.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Documents nursing observations.
- Elicits important information concerning the patient’s progress.
- Reports symptoms, reactions and progress of patient to the Nurse Practitioner and/or Facility Manager, and ensures appropriate actions are taken.
- Clinical Collaboration & Communication
- Collaborate with and assist doctors, psychologists, and rehabilitation therapist working with patients in order to treat, rehabilitate, and return patients to the community.
- Pursues proper chain of command to attain a satisfactory solution.
- Initiates changes to improve patient care; discusses changes with doctor when appropriate.
- Professional Development & Compliance
- Utilizes educational opportunities within the facility and other avenues to maintain clinical expertise to promote personal growth and development.
- Responsible for knowledge of legal aspects of nursing.
Additional Functions
- Performs other duties as may be assigned.
- Follows and supports TPEG policies and procedures.
- Works collaboratively and cooperatively with internal and external partners.

- Travels occasionally during the workday and on occasional overnight stay. (Compensation for mileage, food and lodging provided.)
- Maintains regular attendance at work and company activities and demonstrates punctuality regarding deadlines.

- Expands and updates job knowledge through educational opportunities and professional learning.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
- EDUCATION: Completion of LVN program
- LICENSURE: Current License Registration with the California Board of Vocational Nursing.
- RELATED EXPERIENCE: Minimum of one (1) year of experience working as an LVN.
- SKILLS: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- OTHER EXPERIENCE / SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Experience working with culturally diverse individuals and communities or have otherwise demonstrated a commitment to strengthening engagement of a diverse community and skill in communicating with diverse populations.
- Familiarity with equity and/or diversity initiatives within an organization.
- Written and oral communication skills sufficient to perform essential functions.
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions independently and use initiative to accomplish complex assignments with general instruction and guidance.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment and integrity on the job with confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
- Demonstrated ability to organize time and other resources to perform multiple tasks.

- Proficiency in word processing and database and/or spreadsheet applications.
- Physical and mental attributes sufficient to perform essential functions.

- Valid Driver's License
