General Description Of The Position
The Lead Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) at Tatum Psychology Employment Group plays a vital leadership role within the Residential Treatment Center – serving as a key point of accountability for ensuring the safety, clinical quality, and operational efficiency of the facility.
Essential Functions
- Clinical Oversight & Patient Care
- Lead and oversee all nursing, medication, and patient care processes to ensure quality and safety.
- Maintain responsibility for patient health, including supervision of nursing services.
- Monitor and support staff in assessing and documenting patient conditions, behaviors, and progress.
- Facilitate communication with the clinical team regarding care adjustments and patient needs.
- Conduct daily medication audits, order labs, and recommend care improvements in collaboration with the clinical and nursing team.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Complete accurate and timely documentation of nursing assessments, interventions, and patient responses.
- Maintain thorough medical records in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Report changes in patient condition to clinical staff and contribute to interdisciplinary communication.
- Support quality assurance through proper documentation and participation in internal reviews.
- Communication & Collaboration
- Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, Program Managers, and clinical leadership to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
- Collaborate with the Program Manager, Nurse Practitioner, and on-duty staff to address patient needs and support treatment planning.
- Promote effective communication through regular updates, team coordination, and timely escalation of concerns.
- Regulatory Compliance & Legal Knowledge
- Ensure compliance with Title 22, Title 9, and facility policies in all nursing practices.
- Maintain knowledge of legal and ethical nursing standards, including HIPAA, patient rights, and mandated reporting.
- Monitor staff adherence to regulations, support audits, and address compliance issues as needed.
- Educate staff adherence to regulations, support audits.
- Professional Development
- Utilizes educational opportunities within the facility and other avenues to maintain clinical expertise to promote personal growth and development.
- Responsible for knowledge of legal aspects of nursing.
Additional Functions
- Performs other duties as may be assigned.
- Follows and supports TPEG policies and procedures.
- Works collaboratively and cooperatively with internal and external partners.
- Represents TPEG, Inc., by embodying the mission, vision and values of the organization.
- Travels occasionally during the workday and on occasional overnight stay. (Compensation for mileage, food and lodging provided.)
- Maintains regular attendance at work and company activities and demonstrates punctuality regarding deadlines.

- Expands and updates job knowledge through educational opportunities and professional learning.

Minimum Qualifications
- EDUCATION: Completion of LVN program
- LICENSURE: Actively registered with the California Board of Vocational Nursing
- RELATED EXPERIENCE: Minimum of one (1) year in mental health or behavioral health.
- OTHER EXPERIENCE / SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Experience working with culturally diverse individuals and communities or have otherwise demonstrated a commitment to strengthening engagement of a diverse community and skill in communicating with diverse populations.
- Familiarity with equity and/or diversity initiatives within an organization.
- Written and oral communication skills sufficient to perform essential functions.
