Job summary

US Heart and Vascular are seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our team at Memorial Katy Cardiology in Houston, TX. The LVN will provide patient care within the licensed scope, follow cardiology clinic policies, and communicate clearly with patients by phone regarding treatment plans and follow-up steps.

The role requires a Texas LVN license and CPR certification, with preferred cardiology office experience.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Texas LVN license and current CPR certification.
  • Cardiology clinic experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient care within the scope of LVN license.
  • Follows nursing policies, procedures, and protocols and implements them in patient care.
  • Instructs patients on treatment plans, medications, and follow-up by phone.
  • Documents accurately in patient charts and communicates with the healthcare team.
  • Maintains crash carts and quarterly auditing of medications and defibrillators per protocol.
  • Schedules patient visits and coordinates with Front Office Staff.
  • Assists with stress tests and readiness of emergency equipment.

Description

US Heart and Vascular are in search of a Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our team at Memorial Katy Cardiology in Houston, TX.

Responsibilities & Duties
  • Provides patient care as a health care team member within the scope of the license.
  • Familiar with nursing policies, procedures, and protocols and implements appropriately in the care of patients.
  • Provides instructions to patients regarding treatment plans, medications, and follow-up needed by phone.
  • Communicates effectively with other healthcare team members, including accurate documentation in patient charts.
  • Follows OSHA regulations and safety guidelines.
  • Responsible for maintaining all crash carts and quarterly auditing of medications and defibrillators. Documentation of completion
  • Complete supply ordering.
  • Handles patient phone calls to the nurse and refers information to the physician or provider per Telephone Communication Protocol. Returns phone calls to patients to communicate the treatment plan effectively and documents all interactions in the patient's record.
  • Schedules patient office visits as needed and coordinates with Front Office Staff.
  • Approves pharmacy refills per protocol.
  • Cleans and disinfects equipment/instruments per protocol.
  • Familiar with and able to assist in stress tests.
  • Utilizes correct patient consent for stress testing.
  • Familiar with emergency treatment equipment and protocols. Responds calmly and efficiently during emergencies. Assist as assigned with emergency equipment monthly supply checklist.
  • Initiates training of new LVN team members.
  • Reviews PT/INRs and communicates results and medication changes as needed.
  • Reviews remote patient pacemaker and defibrillator transmissions and provides results to physicians. Communicates effectively urgent messages when necessary.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • One year of nursing experience is preferred. Cardiology Medical Office experience desirable.
  • Current Texas LVN license, current CPR certification.
