Job summary

Akua Behavioral Health in California is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our evening care team. This full-time, non-exempt position supports mental health and detox treatment programs under supervision of the Clinical Director.

Requirements include CA LVN/LPN licensure, current CPR/First Aid, and a valid CA driver’s license. New graduates welcome; NCLEX not required for LVN, with a focus on medication management and documentation within EMR systems.

• TB Clearance required.

Responsibilities

• The LVN works under the supervision of the Clinical Director.
• Maintains professional standards and follows the treatment policies of the organization, The Joint Commission and Federal/State Laws and Regulations.
• The LVN is responsible for all medication as ordered by the Medical Director, Program Physician, and to maintain accurate accounting of all medication received and observed.
• The LVN is responsible for the safekeeping of all medication stock and the records required by the DEA, FDA, JCAHO and ADP.
• The LVN is responsible for training all clinical staff about medications, observation of medications, and medication destruction.
• The LVN is responsible for all detox assessments including CIWA, COWS, Vitals, etc.
• The LVN is responsible for all medical documentation in the EMR including all physician notes and medication orders.
• The LVN may be responsible for urine collection and processing in conjunction with the clinical technicians, reading test results as ordered by Program Physicians and the completion of all forms involved in these procedures.
• The LVN is also responsible for coordinating all internal and external medical and lab appointments.
